Yoga is a form of static exercise that does not require vigorous heart muscle activity and is therefore considered safest and most effective in patients suffering from heart diseases.


swimming is also advised to young or middle aged cardiac patients who enjoy it as a sport. Swimming relaxes the body and gentle strokes in water relieve stress.


It is recommended to every heart patient to walk slowly for at least 15 to 30 minutes on daily basis.

What are pre-requisites for exercise in heart patients?

In specific cases the patients with severe heart problems must be careful. If they have developed any complications like cardiac arrest, disturbance in rhythm of beats or fainting, then they need additional care and treatment. Until the treatments do not reduce the cardiac risk, these patients should consult the doctor in before resuming any physical activity.

  • It is always safe to take the stress exercise test before normally resuming physical activity. This is done to check that after recovering from heart disease how much physical activity can be endured without complications.
